Bad news for cine goers and Indian film Industry. Movie ticket Charges will increase by 28% from 1st July
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Today (19th May 2017) announced GST tax for the entertainment Industry. The Tax would be 28%. This will be made compulsory from 1st July 2017.
This is going to affect the entertainment industry seriously. The Movie ticket price all over India will get hiked. For example, if a theatre is charging 150Rs per ticket, from July 1st onwards it will be 150Rs +28%. So the ticket charge will be 192 Rs. Now itself the moviegoers are paying around 200- 300 rupees for a ticket in metro cities.
This kind of huge increase in ticket rate will force the audience to opt pirated copies of movies. Currently, the indian movie industry is facing a big challenge because of this pirated copies.
