The tug war between Kerala film producers and Kerala film exhibitor’s federation has been resolved. According to official trustworthy sources, it was informed that the Exhibitors associations have withdrawn their demand for fifty percent revenue share of box- office collection.
The statement was made followed by Kerala chief minister Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan’s involvement. The theatre owners association led by Liberty Basheer had insisted a 50- 50 share from the theatrical collections of new releases. But the distributors and producers resisted the demand saying that they will have to face big losses. They also questioned the situation of theatres in Kerala.
The meeting held by A.K. Balan, Minister in charge of cinema affairs, between the two parties, went unsuccessfully. Nevertheless, the exhibitors have now agreed to follow the same old ratio 40-60 ratio revenue share until the government arrives at a decision.
Hence, the most awaited releases such as Mohanlal’s Muthirivallikal Thalirkumbol, Prithviraj’s Ezra, Dulquer’s Jomonte suvisheshangal and Jayasurya’s Fukri would be getting a release date soon. The long wait is over. Let us hope that all these movies will hit the box office with a bang.
